As Latin Masses are difficult to find, Dr K decided to turn his unconverted stone barn into a chapel solely devoted to the celebration of the Roman Catholic Tridentine Mass - 'the most beautiful thing this side of heaven' as Fr Faber said. The chapel is set in a five acre farm in the British countryside, 60 miles north of London. Please check the upcoming Mass dates on this website. At the moment we have one Mass per month, usually on a Saturday. With the election of Pope Leo XIV on 8 May 2025, there are hopes that the 'war on tradition' may end. If you would like an invitation to attend Mass or are a priest who can celebrate the traditional Mass, please email Lorainne at: lorainne@stonebarnchapel.com
We all know that Pope Francis issued a motu proprio (an executive order) on 16 July 2021 - 'Traditionis Custodes' - which restricted worldwide the traditional Latin Mass.
With the advent of Pope Leo XIV, however, there appears to be hope that the Vatican may stop actively prohibiting the traditional Roman Rite. Reports are that Pope Leo, whose Latin is exemplary, has been saying the old rite privately for years! It's still early days, but let's give Pope Leo a chance and remember him in our prayers. The Grace of State which God provides for the Pope can work miracles.

How to get a personal invite to the next Mass
Some nice polyphony at the Stone Barn Chapel
We have started to have informal talks after Mass in the tearoom on various Catholic topics. Tim Guile of the Catholic History Association kicked off the Tearoom talks with an excellent presentation on 'Catholic Recusant Women.'
